Navigation:
To create a link, first click on the Link Tool and then draw a rectangle around the text you want to be linked. This will create a zone where if a user should click their mouse cursor, it will automatically take them to the section you determine (or open a file or webpage). Creating Bookmarks (Optional for UF ETDs)Bookmarks are a helpful navigational tool. They can be created manually using the tools found in the Bookmarks tab, or you can program the Acrobat PDFMaker 6.0 plug-in to create them for you. In the figure below you will see an example of "cascading" Bookmarks. These have to be done one by one by selecting the text using the "Select Text" tool, then pressing CTRL B to create the bookmark. Then by clicking on the entry and dragging/dropping the item you can move the bookmark and/or attach it to it's preceding superior heading. Text ModificationBy using the Text Touch-up Tool you can modify your text in the following ways:
NOTE: You can only make minor adjustments to text on a line-by-line basis. Major text modifications will have to be done in the original document and reconverted to PDF. To access the menu which will allow you to change the text attributes, go to Tools - Touch Up Text - Text Attributes. An example of the menu structure is shown in the figure below: Then, when you highlight the text and right-click on it, you will then be presented with a dialogue box that will allow you to change all the attributes we mentioned above. In the example below, we demonstrate a modification of text color.
Thumbnail Navigation and Making Links ManuallyLinking your PDF Manually is covered in the Creating Links Manually section of our PDF Conversion tutorial. Thumbnails are miniaturized examples of your document's pages. They can be very useful when navigating through a large document. An example of a set of thumbnails can be seen in the figure below, with the "Number pages" option selected: By selecting a group of thumbnail pages and right-clicking you'll be presented with a pop-up menu that will allow you to change your thumbnail page numbers. Changing the numbering style allows you to set the thumbnail numbers so that they match the page numbering within the document. This makes navigating the document easier (especially when looking for subsequent Editorial Office corrections later on). The image below shows an example of the thumbnail Page Numbering dialogue box:
Inserting, Replacing & Deleting Page in the PDFIf you made changes to your original document but the changes did not propagate very far into the remainder of the document, you easily replace the desired page. To insert or replace a section of your PDF, use the thumbnails to select the pages you wish to replace, delete or extract (or the region where you'd like to insert pages), select Document from the menubar and choose the appropriate option from the pulldown menu. In the figure below, you will see an example of the menu choices available
